(COVID-19)

​Please note; The information below may change slightly if government recommendations and procedures change. We will do our best to keep this information up-to-date. 
Spin Class Safety Protocol
Spin classes will continue to take place in a cordoned off area of the mall adjacent to the gym. This space allows us to provide physical distancing and better ventilation during classes.

DO NOT ENTER IF YOU ARE SICK

It is not permitted for anyone to enter Functional Performance Fitness, or any of our classes, if individuals have symptoms of COVID-19.  If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, please return home and seek medical help or testing as required.

ADDITIONAL CLEANING AND SANITATION
We use an electrostatic sprayer to thoroughly sanitize each bike before and after each class. These sprayers use a certified green product to enhance the sanitation of the equipment in our facility while keeping the air quality safe. 

ARRIVING FOR CLASS  
Class members will check in at the front desk upon arrival. After you've checked in, remember to take a spray bottle and towel before you walk your way to the spinning area and choose your preferred bike if not already taken. 

MASKS
We ask that Members wear a mask when going in and out of the Club and spinning area, to and from the change rooms, while in the washroom area, while talking to anyone etc. We recommend that Members carry their masks with them at all times whether fully vaccinated or not. Although members are not required to wear a mask while actively exercising in the general gym area, personal training sessions and group fitness classes, it is encouraged. If our members feel more comfortable wearing a mask during class or their training, they are welcome to do so. 

FPF staff are required to wear masks while they are on duty at all times.

SHOE TRAYS
Shoe trays are available for your shoes and/or belongings. There will be a tray drop off after each use to be cleaned and sanitized.

SPRAY BOTTLES & Cleaning Towels
Spray bottles and cleaning towels are available at the front desk for each member. Members are required to wipe down bikes BEFORE and AFTER class. 

Physical Distance
Spinning bikes are positioned more than 10 feet apart to allow a safe distance between bikes and the group instructor. 

HAND-SANITIZER
A hand sanitizer station is located right at the spinning area entrance. Spinning participants are required to use hand sanitizer upon entering the spinning area and before returning to the regular gym area.

AFTER YOUR CLASS
After class, the spin Instructor will direct each spin class member out to ensure physical distance is maintained. We ask to yield to the incoming or outgoing members. Members must leave the club at the end of their workouts and are not allowed to stand at the front desk area. 

WATER DISPENSER
Water dispensers will be available for bottle filling, and members are required to wipe down touched surfaces before and after use.

COVID-19 Self Assessment Test
Above all the safety protocols we have in place, we ask that all members self assess before coming to the gym. You can conduct a self assessment here. 
What To Expect
We have made a few changes to improve our member's experience and safety at our club. You will learn about our updated hours, class schedule, and what to expect when you return to FPF.

​FIRST DAY RETURNING?
Please see us at the front desk before your workout. We want to ensure that the addendum to our waiver form has been signed and new protocol safety measures are explained.

​UNLIMITED CLASSES
We understand that your Silver membership includes unlimited classes; however, we ask that you allow others opportunity to attend a class by not booking more than one class a day.  If you want to book more than one class a day, give us a call, and we will check class availability. 

KEY FOB ACCESS
We want to ensure the safety of our staff and members. We have a cleaning system that allows us to return to 24-hours with key fob access. However, our staffed hours are 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 8 am to 12 pm. 

CLASS SIZE
The group fitness room can accommodate ten members while keeping 10 feet apart. For added measures, we will reduce yoga classes to 8 participants and 10 for all other group fitness classes. 

BEFORE YOUR CLASS
Class members are required to check in at the front desk upon arrival during the first week of returning to in-person class. After you have checked in, get ;your spray bottle and towel before proceeding to the group fitness room. 

AFTER CLASS/WORKOUTS
Members must exit the group fitness room right after class so our cleaning team could get the room cleaned and ready for the next class. 

​HAND SANITIZER
To keep our facility a safe environment to work out, we have hand sanitizer station in multiple location throughout the facility. It is required for everyone to use hand sanitizer before entering the facility. Hand sanitizer stations are located in the vestibule (main door), and another station at the mall entrance.

​ADDENDUM WAIVER & CONTRACTS
Things have changed, and so have our policies and waivers. Contracts, waivers, and forms were updated in 2020 to suit our current situation. Members are required to fill out a new membership contract if their contract have auto renewed or is up for renewal. Contract forms and  addendum to the waivers are available at the front desk. If you are unable to access the facility during staffed hours, we recommend letting us know to schedule an appointment for your gym membership renewal. If your gym membership status is expired or inactive, unfortunately, your key fob access will be denied.

​ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
In addition to the safety measures and guidelines,
 all memberships on hold since our current lockdown will  reactivate. If you require any changes to your membership status, we ask that you contact us and we will be happy to look into your account
FPF Procedures
​ARRIVING AT THE CLUB
Class members are required to line-up outside the club, in the designated waiting area, prior to the booking start time. Signage will indicate the physical distancing requirements and indicate how Members should be organized. Waiting area (at the front desk) will be limited upon entry to two persons at a time to ensure social distancing. We ask to yield to the incoming or outgoing members.

MASKS
Our group instructors and staff will be wearing masks while they are at the studio as long as it is necessary. Personal trainers are required to wear masks whenever possible and will not be permitted to come into contact with clients unless it's needed to prevent injury. If you’d like to wear one, please do.  

AFTER YOUR WORKOUT
Members must leave the club at the end of their workouts and are not allowed to stand at the front desk area. If a member is waiting on another member, we kindly ask to wait outside.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Addition to the robust standards we are implementing, we are also providing two other options to accommodate our PT clients such as remote personal training and virtual sessions. Members who are not ready to return to the club, we understand and we will offer another free two weeks temporary membership hold after the announced date of reopening.

A REMINDER
We are unable to process any changes to memberships, specialty packages, or personal training contracts before we actually open. We ask our members to be patient with us during this time.
Member & Staff Prevention
UPDATED PROGRAMMING
We’ve updated our workout programming so you will be able to work out in your own dedicated space, and will not have to share equipment during your workout. Foam rollers, bands and mats will only be available upon request at the front desk and must be cleaned before and after each use. 

PROTECTIVE BARRIERS
Protective barriers are installed at the front desk and in the consultation room to protect you and our staff.

There is a drop-off location on your way out for spray bottles and towels to be sanitized for the next use.

HAND-SANITIZER
Additional hand sanitizer is placed in multiple location of the club, including a station in the vestibule and mall entrance. Members, staff and visitors are required to use hand sanitizer upon entering the facility.

AMENITIES
Some limitations to our amenities and services are required to ensure we are offering a safe Club environment and complying with government regulation. Towel service, hot yoga, hair dryers, showers and lockers will return to normal, with the exception of saunas reducing to a maximum of one person unless living in the same household.

STAFF HAND WASHING
Instructors and staff are required to wash hands upon arrival before and after each class or session for at least 20 seconds.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will classes be available for booking?
All classes including in-studio and  virtual regular/specialty classes are available for booking on the Functional Performance Fitness app. 

Will the class schedule be the same as before?
Group Fitness class will remain the same with a few changes to the class schedule for the summer months. Classes will be modified to make sure we are running classes with a high level of safety, while giving our FPF members a great experience. Our group fitness classes will allow us to promote physical distancing and take into account the exertion level of participants to reduce exposure to members and Instructor. Some class times will remain the same while others have been changed to allow time in between classes for cleaning. Our class schedule is available on our website and our mobile app. 

Will you be offering any outdoor classes?
All fitness classes are instructed inside (in-person) and virtual (online) at the moment.

Will I need to book a time slot for my workout in the general gym area?
Like all fitness clubs, Functional Performance Fitness is allowed to have 50% capacity inside the general gym area, and no more than 10 people in an exercise class. FPF already have a maximum of 10 people per class and have never exceeded 50% capacity at any given time. However, if we experience maximum capacity at any time, we will implement a booking system.

Which cardio machines will be available for use?
All of our cardio machines will be available and marked to allow physical distancing. We asked that you respect each others space to allow 2 metres apart while working out. 

When will FPF reopen temporarily closed amenities and services?
All amenities will return to normal. We are following guidelines and recommendations of our local health unit, as well as monitoring all provincial and federal health guidelines to ensure FPF club is safe for all our Members and staff.

Do members need to wear a mask inside the club?
Members must wear a mask when going in and out of the Club, to and from the change room, while in the washroom area, while talking to anyone etc. whether fully vaccinated or not. Although it is not necessary to wear a mask while you're working out, we encourage you to keep your face coverings on if you can do so for added protection.

What if I want to make changes to my current membership?
If you require any changes to your membership status, we ask that you contact us and we will be happy to make the changes to your account.
Safety Cleaning Practices
FPF EXTRA SAFETY MEASURES
Now that our plan is laid out, we want to make sure you know about all of the additional health and safety precautions we’re taking at FPF!

We will allow for more time between PT sessions/Classes so we are able to clean equipment and our facility more effectively. Our class schedule will be updated on a monthly basis.


UPGRADED CLEANING SCHEDULE
Equipment will be thoroughly disinfected throughout the day after each use with health Canada approved disinfectant. This includes the regular cleaning of doorknobs, shoe cubby, front desk area, and any other surfaces or objects that are touched throughout the day. Our facility will also have a deep clean  sanitization on a daily basis.

Additionally, 10 minutes of dedicated cleaning time will be set aside after every class to “reset” the group fitness studio and prepare for the next class.


TAPING THE FLOOR
We have taped the floor in the group fitness room so you are 6 feet apart from the next person and group instructor. 

INCREASED VENTILATION
We will keep the studio well ventilated by exhausting the air in the group fitness room, opening the doors when appropriate and adjusting the air conditioning/heat as needed.
Upgraded Gym Memberships
Basic Membership
A Basic membership is excellent for those interested in the open gym only , and access to FPF Facebook private group page. Fitness classes are not included in a Basic Gym Membership.   

Silver Membership
Silver Membership includes open gym, unlimited in-studio and online classes, and access to our weekly challenges on our private group page.   

Gold Membership
Gold membership requires the purchase of ​ a specialty class package.​ Discounted Gold membership, unlimited specialty classes, unlimited regular classes, and access to our weekly challenges on our private group page. If you are no longer enrolled in our specialty packages, your gym membership will be downgraded to our current basic membership.
 
Platinum Membership
Platinum gym membership ​requires​ the enrolment of a one-on-one, semi-private or partner personal training programs. Discounted platinum membership, unlimited regular classes, and access to our weekly challenges on our private group page.​ ​If you are no longer enrolled in personal training services, your gym membership will be downgraded to our current basic rate.
